The environmental and public health policies being adopted by regulators around the world mean that the industry is now racing to find an alternative to diesel powered vans and trucks.
Public policy is demanding that alternative propulsion systems must be developed to reduce the impact of transport on the environment and public health. Many of world’s largest manufacturers and fleet operators have willingly invested in the new technologies which will ultimately supersede diesel power although, to date, no technology is able to match diesel in terms of its all-round utility. At the same time as this, technological developments are increasing the level of truck autonomy, increasing transport efficiency and, in the future, potentially breaking the link between economic growth and fuel emissions.
